Matthew... in child care

We missed Matthew's Parent-Teacher session 2 Saturdays ago, because Dr Ong wanted to see both Matthew and Joanne. Yesterday afternoon, I called the centre and talked to Teacher Venice.

The first thing I was told about him - Matthew loves to hug his friends. I had to repeat.. H U G? yes, said Teacher Venice. That blew me off a little. As a lot of you know, Matthew's quite shy and quite an introvert too. I didn't know he's so "affectionate" to his friends (as described by Teacher Venice). She said that he's so affectionate that sometimes she got to pull him to sit with her, so that he won't go around hugging everybody and get pushed by other kids who didn't want to be hugged. Teacher and I concluded that this could be a result of her class theme "Love and Hugging" a few weeks back, and coupled by the fact that he loves Jo so much, kissing and hugging her all the time..

Matthew's settling well in class, with his friends and teachers. He enjoys the classes and participates.

He loves singing, dancing and story-telling.

He speaks well in Mandarin, which Teacher Venice does not understand (she comes from Mymmar) and would ask Teacher Melissa to translate. He understands simple instruction in English. and guess what, he's starting to speak to Teacher Venice in English! I did notice that he has started to pronunce the "s" in Yes and it sounds so cute! hahahaha..

He can voice his needs, such as going to toilet etc.

I'm so glad that he has finally settled down. It took us 2 months with some cryings, shoutings, but we are there! YEAH!

3 cheers for Matthew. Hip Hip Hooray. Hip Hip Hooray. HIP HIP HOORAY! YEAH!
