The big earthquake in Sichuan, China on 12 May 2008 was devastating. The after-shocks were and still are equally destructive and hindering the rescuers' efforts. There was a big after-shock rated 6.4 this afternoon, injuring more people, killing at least one.
The past 2 weeks, we have shown Matthew many many newspaper reports on the earthquake and explained to him the effects of the earthquake, how many children have no food, no water, no home, no school etc and how fortunate he is. We also tried to teach him to be charitable and asked him to donate money for the earthquake rescue-and-rebuilding efforts.
Me: 你要捐多少钱?
Matthew: 五块钱。
Me: Jo Jo 要捐多少钱?
Matthew: Jo Jo 捐四块钱给我。我就有九块钱捐给那些地震的人。
Me: **SPEECHLESS**

Hey, young Matthew is good in maths at this age... potentially an engineer like mum and dad!
