This is my birth story, which is not very exciting.
On 27 Februray 2007...
7:15am - woke up late! washed up and changed to bring Matthew to my mom's place.
8:00am - reached TMC and admitted. Room 0509. Back to Level 5 as when I had Matthew 2 years ago. some familiar faces. :)
8:30am-9:15am - nurses come in and out, took my temperature, blood pressure, listened to Joanne's heartbeat. changed into green gown.
i lost track of time from then on. I pushed to Level 2, waited outside OT, talked to anaesthetist Y C Lim and told him that he was the one who administered my epidural 2 yrs ago. After a while, I was rolled into the OT. Y C Lim inserted the IV drip into my wrist. Funny thing was he put something into the drip which he said would knock me out, but I didn't. The whole while he was inserting needles into my spinal area for epidural and spinal blocks, I was awake and chit-chatting with him. Slowly I couldn't feel my legs. I told him that I specifically requested for him to be my anaesthetist because I recovered very well the last time and joked with him that he should give me a discount! hahaha!
My gynae Eunice Chua and Mike came in. Time for the cut! No shivering yet. I was again in a very chatty and talkactive mode. According to Eunice, I was TALKING NON-STOP. even as I drifted in and out of consciousness, I could continue the conversation where I left off. Hahaha! I could vaguely remember talking to Eunice and Y C Lim about their kids and dogs, about how Dr Caroline Khi was back at work so fast after giving birth over the CNY holidays.
This time the shivering only set in after a while. I could hold Joanne and had a close look at her. I think she recognised my voice and stopped screaming when I talked to her. Joanne was borned at 10:22am, weighed 3.295kg, measuring 49cm in length, with a head of 36cm.
I was back in my room at about 11:30am. Waiting for Dr Dorothy Ong to see Joanne before the nurses would bring her to me. Opted for total breastfeeding. 3 hourly interval in the day and on demand at night. Joanne is very goood at suckling and latch on very well.
Joanne and I were discharged on 2 March 2007.
