This was the response we got when one of the older relatives (or is it her grandmother) called her 小可爱. She just wanted to be called Joanne and nothing else. She always put the record straight whenever she hears something different.
We always correct her when she calls her brother Matthew instead of gor gor. She will say, "哥哥是Matthew. Matthew是哥哥." telling us that there's nothing wrong to call Matthew.
My mom (me included) sometimes calls the kids wrongly, Joanne - boy, Matthew - girl. Joanne will correct, "我是girl, 哥哥是boy."
CUTE! We have to praise her, right? :)
